Prompt 'Delay'

Today’s word prompt is ‘delay,’ which feels especially fitting for this time of year.

With Thanksgiving travel in full swing, delays become an annual tradition of their own—transforming simple trips into tales of chaos and comedy.

Breaking news!

They say it every year.
Record snow in Denver.
A thousand-year rain in Atlanta.
Wind gnaws at Chicago’s resolve.

And yet, every year,
we act surprised—
the audacity of winter,
the betrayal of weather,
the irony of arrival.

Here’s to the great airport delay,
an annual ritual of frustration.

We’ll get there eventually.
Probably.
