Switch

For today’s word prompt, I wrote an Ode. An ode is a type of lyrical poem that expresses praise, admiration, or love for a person, place, thing, or idea. You can choose a structure for an ode that suits your style and tone. It can be traditional, such as the Pindaric ode, which comprises three parts: the strophe, the antistrophe, and the epode. Or, it can be a flexible form, such as the Horatian ode, which has a regular rhyme scheme and meter. Or you can create your own form with no rhyme or meter at all. Isn’t poetry fun!? 🙂

Oh switch, you are a versatile word
You can be a noun or a verb
You can mean a device or an action
You can cause a change or a reaction

You can be a whip or a twig
You can be a rail or a jig
You can be a network component
You can be a choice or a moment

You can switch on or off the light
You can switch from wrong to right
You can switch your style or your mood
You can switch your food or your attitude

Oh switch, you are a wonder to behold
You have so many stories to be told
You are simple yet complex
You are flexible yet direct
